It worked for me!

As a parent you will do anything for your child to make things better and ensure your child's success. This was certainly the case in my home.

As a parent you will do anything for your child to make things better and ensure your child's success. This was certainly the case in my home. When my daughter was in Kindergarten I noticed that she was not writing as well as the other children. She would ask amazing questions like, "If God is everywhere, am I stepping on him when I walk?" and wondering at night "If I pick a job that doesn't make a lot of money can I live with you Mommy when I am older, I'm concerned." To that end I tried not to panic, her teacher was not worried so why should I be worried? Things declined in first grade and I knew that something was not right. I spent thousands of dollars getting my daughter tested for hearing issues, vision problems, IQ and behavioral tests. She did not have a hearing, vision or behavior problem and her IQ was in the 98th percentile. After the tantrums about homework, slow progress in school and almost losing my mind my neighbor (and co-founder!) told me about a program her daughter had just completed called Learning RX. The program was "brain training". I checked out the website and read up (I love to research) and had a lot of concerns. The price, the time commitment (HUGE), and the results all made me second-guess my decision. I decided to take my daughter to be evaluated and was extremely skeptical. After the evaluation I met with the owner of the facility in Reston, Maureen Loftus. Maureen told me that that my daughter did have a high IQ, but her working memory was in the 14%, she could not compensate for this gap on her own. Maureen is a mother, businesswoman and had struggled with a child of her own. It was this struggle that prompted her to take her own daughter to a Learning RX facility and it was a drastic change for her child. I listened to Maureen and enrolled my daughter promising only one month of a six month stint, if I did not see results then that was it. I took my daughter out of every activity she had been enrolled in so we could accommodate the 3 times a week (1 1/2 hour sessions) that would be required. Expecting a fight over going I was pleasantly surprised when my daughter came out from classes telling me she was having fun. She quickly bonded with her incredible trainer and within two weeks something amazing happened. She did her homework by herself. This might not seem like a big deal but it was a first. I did not care if it was right; it was done without yelling and screaming. Trying to not get excited about progress I was shocked to see that within three weeks of the program this kid who had not passed one multiplication timed test before was already into her third test and was on division. It was working. I could not believe the results and the immediacy to which they were seen. My daughter is 5 months through the program and this was a life changer for us. She is confident, she remembers what she needs to for tests, and she advanced four grades in her reading ability. The cost is high, but for us, the cost not to do brain training would have been much higher. For more information visit:
