A 20-year-old Fairfax High School graduate is asking for the public’s help in funding her internship in public health.
Mallory Nicola Stevens, a junior at Kent State University, started a GoFundMe page to help with expenses as she studies at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
GoFundMe is similar to the fundraising site Kickstarter, except that participants are raising money for personal causes and life events.
Stevens hopes to work in the public health industry focusing on issues that affect the LGBT community, according to her GoFundMe page.
"I have some financial aid and a little family assistance, but this semester is going to be very tough to manage," she wrote.
She wants to raise $10,000 and has raised about $3,000 so far. Visit her page for more details.
