Hickory Grove is a Virginia-based folk and bluegrass band that plays a smooth-edged, folk-influenced style of bluegrass built around the versatile singing of husband and wife team, Jack and Bev Osburn, with Bev on guitar and Jack on banjo. They both sing leads and harmonies on tunes ranging from the folk, Irish, and bluegrass traditions. They are joined by bassist Dave Sargent and harmonica extraordinaire, Larry Tapper. Hickory Grove’s debut recording, “At the Mill,” garnered praise from Bluegrass Unlimited, Sing Out! and Dirty Linen magazines. Hickory Grove received five Washington Area Music Association, “WAMMIE,” nominations in Bluegrass categories for best vocalist, best group/duo and best album. Hickory Grove received awards two years in a row from the Waterford Foundation for Best Entertainment at the Waterford Festival, Waterford, VA. Their enthusiasm, love of music, humor and sincere personal warmth comes out in their performances whether they are on a large festival stage, at park concert programs, or in more intimate settings
