Annual Spring Wine Tasting and Dinner Nets over $500,000 to Support the ServiceSource Foundation

The ServiceSource Foundation hosted its sixth annual Spring Wine Tasting and Dinner on Thursday, May 8 at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, DC. The event, attended by nearly 100 business and community leaders, netted almost $500,000 to support the work of the Foundation.

Since its inception, the ServiceSource Foundation has raised nearly $4 million in support of unfunded or under-funded programs. The primary source of funding comes directly from money raised at the Spring Wine Tasting and Dinner. To date, the Foundation has allocated more than $1.5 million in grants to ServiceSource, with the majority supporting ServiceSource’s Day Habilitation Programs where individuals with disabilities receive life-skills training and are provided meaningful opportunities to enhance sensory and motor skills and receive community-based work experiences.

Last month, ServiceSource purchased a building in Oakton, VA that will be the future home of the National Capital Area Disability Resource Center (DRC).   Renovations begin this summer for an expected move-in date of December, 2014.

The DRC will be a state-of-the-art, community-based resource center that is recognized in the National Capital Area as the “one-stop” resource location for individuals with disabilities, their family members and caregivers and members of our community.   It will be the showcase site of many of the unique programs that ServiceSource currently provides, including the Warrior Bridge Program and One-stop Employment Services as well as new and expanded programs such as the Hospitality Café and retail shop and an Assistive Technology and Lending Center.

To complete the vision of the DRC, the ServiceSource Foundation has launched a public/private sector Capital Campaign to raise $15 million. ServiceSource already secured $4 million in pledge commitments and contributions towards this goal.  It is because of events such as the Wine Dinner and the commitment of donors ServiceSource can celebrate the progress they have made in making the DRC a reality.

“Many of the programs at ServiceSource would not be possible without the generosity of our donors,” said Bruce Wardinski, chairman of the ServiceSource Foundation. “I am happy to say that one hundred percent of the money raised at these events goes directly into programs that have an enormous impact on people with disabilities every day.”

The evening featured wines donated by Delicato Family Vineyards (DFV). DFV Wines is a family-owned winery committed to its 90 year California winemaking and winegrowing heritage. Hors d’oeuvres and dinner were prepared by a talented international culinary team from The Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Marriott International, Inc. Corporate sponsors of the event included Choice Hotels International, Marriott International, Inc., Playa Hotels & Resorts, STG International, Inc.—Ms. Michelle S. Lee and Dr. C. Daniel Chou, MD, Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc., Chesapeake Lodging Trust, Crestline Hotels & Resorts, DiamondRock Hospitality Company, Eastdil Secured LLC, Wells Fargo Securities & Wells Fargo Hospitality Finance Group, Hogan Lovells, US LLP, Nino R. Vaghi Foundation/Digital Office Products, Northrop Grumman Corporation Inc., Avendra, LLC, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Cassidy Turley, Deutsche Bank, Family and Friends of ServiceSource, HITT Contracting Inc., KeyBank Capital Markets and KeyBank Real Estate Capital, PricewarerhouseCoopers, LLP, RBC Capital Markets, RJL Lodging Trust.

“ServiceSource is truly blessed by the support of wonderful trustees and donors,” remarked Janet Samuelson, president and CEO of ServiceSource, Inc. “Because of their contributions, the people we serve benefit by new and enhanced programs. We look forward to your continued support as we build on the vision of the DRC and support people with disabilities in our community.”
