Target to Hire Fewer Seasonal Workers

By Sharon McLoone

Target says it will hire about 70,000 seasonal workers for the holiday shopping season, a 20 percent drop from a year ago.

The Minneapolis-based retail chain says its plans to hire 18,000 fewer workers will allow its permanent employees to get first crack at working extra hours during the holiday season, reports AP.

The company also said its wants to respond more quickly to the ebb and flow of customer traffic as many shoppers wait to shop until they believe they can get the best deals.
