Road Work May Interrupt Waples Mill ES Traffic

Fairfax Water crews will be on Verna Drive starting today through Friday

Parents dropping off and picking up their Waples Mill Elementary students might experience traffic backups for the remainder of the week because of Fairfax Water crews.

The crews will be on Verna Drive to install water lines for the new neighborhood being constructed behind the school, Reserve at Waples Mill.

Installation will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting today through Friday, according to an email from the school to its community Tuesday afternoon. Fairfax Water will have orange cones set up and direct traffic around the construction, the email said.

Reserve at Waples Mill is a 28-home neighborhood being built on 45.6 acres by Camberley Homes, a brand of the company Winchester Homes.

In early September, Camberley Homes reported it would soon begin infrastructure work, such as the neighborhood's water lines, ahead of paving scheduled for later this month or early next month.

During this ongoing project, parents, staff and construction workers are sharing Verna Drive. Once the neighborhood is complete, three roads will provide access into the subdivision: Verna Drive, part of which already exists as an entrance to the parking lot at the school; Waples Glen Court, currently a cul-de-sac with six homes; and Pine Tree Drive toward the south of the property.
