Oakton girls lacrosse continues in their postseason run for state champions

Oakton resident Connie Kohler is with Operation Walk Virginia, which will take a mission trip this October to Nicaragua to provide free medical treatment for life-threatening or debilitating joint conditions. Kohler will be helping to raise money for the cause, as well as offering her skills as an occupational therapist on the mission trip this fall.

Flint Hill School's athletic department made history when the girls sports teams the Fine-Peddler's Cup for ranking second in the Independent School League. The boys first in the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference, earning them the Director's Cup for the second time in three years.

Oakton Crew four boats to National semifinals, making school history.

The Oakton girls lacrosse team will continue its run for the state championship title after West Albemarle on Saturday in Crozet. The Cougars will face the Chantilly Chargers in the semifinal round Tuesday.

Michael McNamee sixth in the 1600-meter run at the VHSL track & field meet this weekend, making him the only Oakton runner to place for points. 

Several Oakton sports teams ended their seasons this week, falling in the Northern Region tournament:

  • After defeating in the second round, the softball team in a tough battle against Westfield in the semifinals. 
  • The baseball team in a heartbreaker, rallying to make up for a 10-run deficit only to fall short by just one run in the second round of the Northern Region tournament.
  • The boys soccer team 2-0 in the second round of the tournament to Lake Braddock.
