Weather Update: 'Dangerously Low' Wind Chill Coming to Fairfax County

Frigid temperatures are coming to Northern Virginia this evening.

Lows in the single digits will come to the area Monday night, the National Weather Service reports.

Tuesday, temperatures will reach a high of about 16 degrees in Fairfax County.

That is combined with west winds of 15 to 20 miles per hour with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour. The wind chill values Tuesday will be as low as -12.

“Dangerously low wind chills could then lead to frostbite and hypothermia Monday evening through Tuesday,” the weather service warns.

The weather service issued a wind chill advisory from midnight Monday through 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Wednesday brings some relief with mostly sunny skies and a high near 31 degrees.
