Unity of Fairfax will host a flag raising ceremony in honor of military Veterans Sunday.
The event takes place at 12:30 p.m. at the church on 2854 Hunter Mill Road in Oakton. The flagpole for the ceremony was a gift from Unity military veterans, according to a church announcement.
Captain Jeff W. Johnson, USN (Ret), of Reston, spearheaded the event. Church members who will raise the flag are Specialist A3 William L. Parkin, USN (1942-1946) World War II, and Electronics Technician Third Class Julius Hankin, USN (1946-1947).

Light refreshments will be served afterwards. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
