Oakton Girl Scouts Tour White House

Waples Mill Elementary students went on Christmas tour of the president's home on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Some girl scouts from Oakton and their families got a special holiday treat this year: a Christmas tour of the White House.

Cadette Girl Scout Troop 930, whose members are all students at Waples Mill Elementary, traveled throughout the decked-out home of the first family, including: the floral display of the Presidential dog Bo, the formal parlors, the Red Room, the Green Room, the Presidential dining Room and the White House China collection, said troop leader Miriam Erickson.

Erickson, a former Majority Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce, arranged the Tour through Rep. Ed Whitfield, she said. Afterwards, they enjoyed lunch at Old Ebbit Grill.
