Why Go: Sam Bartlett is a multi-talented entertainer who will dazzle your kids! He combines music, tricks, and stories into his amazing stunts. This show is especially designed for kids aged 6-12.

Where/When: Lake Fairfax Park, 1400 Lake Fairfax Drive, Reston on Saturday, July 30 at 10 a.m.

Why Go: DinoRock is a wonderful show that will surely engage young kids. The show is a musical that tells the story of Nelson, a boy who is afraid of dinosaurs, using both actors and puppets. This outdoor event is a great way for the whole family to spend quality time together!

Where/When: Reston Town Square Park, 11990 Market Street, Reston on Saturday, July 30 from 10-10:45am

Why Go: If your kids are musically-inclined, they will love the show Presto! The show features classical music and tells the tale of musicians who discover that their prized viola is missing. The musicians hire detectives and together they go on a search for the viola. The show teaches kids the basics of music reading and has deeper messages, too.

Where/When: 11400 Washington Plaza W., Reston on Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m.-noon

Why Go: Artsy children may be seeking an outlet for their creativity in the middle of summer. Take them to the weekly children’s art workshop hosted by the Reston Museum. The workshops are extremely popular—kids rave about them and often beg their parents to take them back the following week!

Pricing: Free, but bring your enthusiasm!

Where/When: Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. SE, Vienna on Wednesday, August 3 at 1 p.m.

Why Go: Vienna Community Center combines two summertime favorites: stories and sprinklers! What child doesn’t love running through sprinklers on a hot summer day? This event allows kids to splash in sprinklers and listen to some,  great summer stories at the same time. It’s a great activity on these oppressively hot days!
