Why Go: Next up in Jammin’ Java Tot Rock series is Ryan Buckle & Friends! The show is a mixture of songs and science, which is sure to delight your youngsters. Watch Zelda the Zookeeper as she explores nature and performs experiments. Enjoy this entertaining and educational show!

Pricing: $8/ticket; kids under 1 are free

Where/When: PETCO, 10708 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax on Saturday, Aug. 27 from noon-3 p.m.

Why Go: Are you in the market for a family pet? Kids love dogs (and vice versa!), so check out PETCO’s dog adoption event. Rescue dogs and other dogs will be available for adoption. Even if you don’t want to take a pet home, your kids will love to go and play with the dogs.

Pricing: Some dogs are free while others are moderately priced.

Where/When: Vienna Sunoco, 102 Maple Ave. W, Vienna on Sunday, Aug. 28 from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Why Go: Teach your kids to support good causes by taking them to the Oakton High car wash at Sunoco. Proceeds benefit the high school’s crew team. Your kids may even be inspired to do some chores for you when they get home!

Where/When: Westwood Country Club, 800 Maple Ave. E, Vienna on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m.

Why Go: If your teenagers like American Idol, they will love Char-a-oke! Attendees are encouraged to belt out their favorite numbers for the benefit of area schools. Your teens can get a chance to perform while supporting a good cause! Maybe you’ll even want to hit the stage for a number!

Pricing: $50

Where/When: Reston Regional Library, 11925 Bowman Towne Dr., Reston on Wednesday, Aug. 31 from 7-8 p.m.

Why Go: Busia Bear hosts an event perfect for a family night out! Sit back, relax, and enjoy a fun-filled evening of summer films. All films are kid-appropriate, so feel free to bring even your youngest children. Be sure to register prior to the event.
