Why Go: The Friends of Oakton Library are raising money by selling donated books at very low prices. Take your kids to the library and let them choose a new assortment of books. You’ll get a great deal and will be encouraging your kids to read at the same time!

OES Variety Show

Where/When: Oakton Elementary School, 3000 Chain Bridge Road, Oakton on Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Oakton Elementary students are showcasing their talents in the school’s annual spring variety show. Kids and adults will enjoy the music, humor, and entertainment of this spunky variety show! And you’ll be supporting our local school at the same time!

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Lake Anne of Reston, 11400 Washinton Plaza West, Reston on Saturday, March 26 from 1-3 p.m.

Why Go: Have a ball while supporting a good cause! Head to the Hoops for Hope event in Reston where kids can compete in hula hoop contests, moonbounce basketball and much more! It’s sure to be a great time.

Pricing: Free to enter; donations encouraged

Where/When: James Madison High School Auditorium, 2500 James Madison Drive, Vienna on Sunday, March 27 at 4 p.m.

Why Go: Capitol Steps is a local theatre troupe that performs humorous shows, often about local people or events. The troupe is performing at JMHS to benefit the school’s Drug-Free, Alcohol-Free, All-Night Grad event for JMHS students. Enjoy an entertaining show, and take the opportunity to teach your kids and teens about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Pricing: $25 in advance; $30 at the door

Where/When: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1133 Reston Ave., Herndon on Sunday, March 27 from 4-5 p.m.

Why Go: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church holds monthly family events. This month, Bob Brown uses puppetry to teach kids about the importance of recycling. Young children, in particular, will love his show!
