Where/When: Reston Town Center, 11900 Market St., Reston on Friday, Sept. 9 from 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m.

Why Go: If your kids or teens are big music buffs, they will enjoy the School of Rock Bands’ concert. The show will be split into two parts. The bands will play songs of Ozzy Osbourne from 6:30-8:15 and will transition into the Keyboard Gods show at 8:15. This will be entertaining for parents and teens alike!

Where/When: Lake Braddock Secondary School, 9200 Burke Lake Rd., Burke on Friday, Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m.

Why Go: “30 Reasons Not to be in a Play” is a unique comedy that pokes fun…at itself! Kids love to laugh and will thoroughly enjoy this show. You can reserve tickets ahead of time by going to the theater company’s website.

Pricing: $10

Where/When: James Madison High School, 2500 James Madison Dr., Vienna on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Why Go: Every year, the James Madison High School Band hosts a “Tag Day” where they march through area neighborhood playing their new repertoire of songs and asking for donations. The donations help support the band on trips and in competitions. You and your family can wait for them to come to your neighborhood, or you can take a stroll through town and look for them. Young kids will get a kick out of seeing the band play on the streets of town!

Where/When: Jammin’ Java, 227 Maple Ave. E, Vienna on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Why Go: Jammin’ Java’s Tot Rock series is a huge hit with the area’s tiniest music lovers. The Diggity Dudes won’t disappoint. They blend humor and music in a way that captivates young kids! Your children will have a ball, and the Diggity Dudes promise that everyone leaves smiling!

Pricing: $10 for everyone over 1 year old

Where/When: Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Pkwy., Fairfax on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 2-3 p.m.

Why Go: It’s hard to believe that the tragic events of 9/11 happened 10 years ago. Whether or not your children were alive on the horrific day, it is important to remember it. This is a great opportunity to teach your children some history and help them understand how people learn to cope with devastating events.
