Why Go: Library book sales are always a great place to find books at steep discounts. Bring your kids and stock up! Plus, it’s a great way to ease your kids back into the educational frame of mind to prepare for the school year.

Where/When: Southgate Community Center, 12125 Pinecrest Road, Reston on Friday, Aug. 19 from 6-9 p.m.

Why Go: Are your teenagers addicted to video games? Let them indulge in their hobby for an evening. This Xbox tournament allows teens to enjoy themselves—and they may even win prizes!

Pricing: Free!

Where/When: Walker Nature Education Center, 11450 Glade Drive, Reston on Friday, Aug. 19 from 7-8:30pm

Why Go: Enjoy the end of summer with your whole family sitting around a campfire. The Reston Association will host a summer campfire night. Be sure to check weather reports because the event will be cancelled in the event of rain. All ages welcome. This is a great family bonding opportunity!

Pricing: $5 for Reston Association members; $8 for non-members

Where/When: Jammin’ Java, 227 Maple Ave. E, Vienna on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10:30 a.m.-noon

Why Go: Fox and Branch are renowned musicians — and their sets are designed specifically for kids. They sing a mix of music genres and invite the kids in the audience to sing along. Parents will enjoy their wide variety of music, and kids will be fascinated by their instruments.

Pricing: $10/ticket; kids under 1 are free

Where/When: Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, 1551 Trap Road, Vienna on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 3 p.m.

Why Go: The Beach Boys are synonymous with summer. Everyone knows their hit songs, including “Surfer Girl,” “Kokomo,” and “Good Vibrations.” Treat your whole family to an afternoon concert with the Beach Boys. This show is a great way to enjoy and savor the last few weeks of summer.
