Cut Cable Causes Outage on Melanie Lane

Work in Miller Heights area leaves more than 60 in the dark

Residents in the Miller Heights area had a power outage this morning, leaving about 62 customers in the dark.

A cable was cut along Melanie Lane around 9 a.m., leaving about 60 customers without power for about an hour, said Le-Ha Anderson, a Dominion Virginia Power spokesperson. Two customers are still without power, which should be rectified in the next couple hours, Anderson said.

"A private contractor doing utility work for another company accidently cut into our power line," Anderson wrote in an email to Patch.
