Today in Oakton: Vision Impaired Resource Group Meets, Fall for the Book Festival

What Oakton residents need to know today, September 17.

  1. Sunny skies are in the forecast with high temperatures at 68 degrees in the day and a low around 50 in the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
  2. Today is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, the anniversary of when the Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. 
  3. The Vienna/Oakton Vision Impaired Resource Group meets at 10:15 a.m. today at Sweet City Desserts on 132-A Maple Avenue West in Vienna. A guest speaker will present two new technologies that are meant to assist those who are vision impaired. 
  4. Fairfax County’s Consumer Protection Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. today at the government center in room 4 and 5 at 12000 Government Center Parkway. 
  5. Mark your calendar: Northern Virginia's Fall for the Book festival starts Sunday and continues until September 27. Meet authors and attend seminars.
