Today in Oakton: Suicide Prevention Week, How to Start a Business

Five things Oakton residents should know today.

  1. Summer weather sticks around today with the forecast calling for temperatures at a high of 90 degrees and partly sunny skies. Also expect patchy fog before 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
  2. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meets at 9:30 a.m. today at the Fairfax County Government Center on 12000 Government Center Parkway. Check out the agenda
  3. The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority is conducting a free workshop for those hoping to start a business in Fairfax County. The workshop is from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. today at 8300 Boone Blvd. Suite 450 in Tyson’s Corner. The event is free and no pre registration is required. More information
  4. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. CrisisLink in Fairfax County has a suicide prevention hotline at 703-527-4077. Learn about the warning signs of suicide.
  5. Mark your calendar: On Wednesday, the Fairfax County Public Library Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m. at the George Mason Regional Library, 7001 Little River Turnpike in Annandale.
