Apply for the Fairfax County Citizens Fire and Rescue Academy

The Oak Marr Wednesday Farmers Market is scheduled for Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Oak Marr RECenter. 

Dave Coulier (of Full House fame) will perform at Jammin Java in Vienna on Aug. 11. According to Mei Verba, spokesperson for Jammin Java, Coulier is one of the biggest stars to perform at the venue in recent months. 

Wine and painting go together like peanut butter and jelly. Uncork'd Art will host an acrylic painting class Tuesday night in Reston. 

Want to learn more about the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department? Want to participate in an interesting, fun-filled, nine-week program that will show you what firefighters and paramedics do every day? You can now apply to the Citizens Fire & Rescue Academy. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 23, or until the class of 25 is filled. The Academy will begin Sept. 19 and will meet for nine consecutive weeks, from 6 -9 p.m. at various locations in and outside the Fire and Rescue Department. Each session will cover different aspects of the organization, providing an in-depth overview of the department and its uniformed and civilian workforce. Program topics include fire suppression, emergency medical services, training, recruitment, special operations and more. To sign up for this free program, you must be 18 years of age and apply online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/fr/cfa.
