We follow Oakton resident John Cochran on his journey through "Survivor: South Pacific."

Join us tonight after the conclusion of "60 Minutes" for our live discussion!

John Cochran, of Oakton, may be out of contention for the "Survivor: South Pacific" title, but the season isn't over yet. Love him or hate him, Cochran had a huge hand in setting the events in motion that have led to the Final Six (once the Redemption Island duel is decided tonight). Join us for a live chat at 7:50 p.m. today to discuss the last episode before Sunday's three-hour finale. Before tonight's episode, take a peek at Cochran's life with the jury at Ponderosa!
Whether you loved his game or hated it, you can't say John Cochran didn't make "Survivor: South Pacific" interesting. The Oakton resident and Flint Hill School graduate went from being on the chopping block in Week One to placing seventh, as his Survivor run came to an end in Wednesday's episode. He got that far by making some bold decisions that brought on labels ranging from "game-changer" from his fans to "traitor" from his haters. And in between, he joined fellow Savaii tribemate Jim in their successful effort to oust de facto leader and Survivor veteran Ozzy's closest ally, Elyse. Two …
We entered tonight's episode of "Survivor: South Pacific" with Oakton resident John Cochran on borrowed time. After being voted to Redemption Island last week, he is tasked with facing Ozzy for a chance to get back in the game. And up to this point, Ozzy has shown no sign of weakness during his time in solitary. After seeing that it's "friends and family" day for the remaining Te Tuna members (the opportunity to have a visit from a family member or friend), we headed over to Redemption for the battle royale. It was a two-part challenge. First, they had to use grappling hooks to retrieve bags …
John Cochran, of Oakton, was sent to Redemption Island in last week's episode of "Survivor: South Pacific." This week, he'll have to battle Survivor veteran Ozzy, who Cochran had a direct hand in eliminating, for a chance to get back onto the island. Will he be able to win? Join us for a live chat at 7:50 p.m. today to discuss Cochran's battle for redemption and other happenings on the island.
After surviving a Tribal Council in which Dawn and Whitney were sent to Redemption Island, Cochran knew he stood at seventh out of the seven remaining players. He knew he has to start working to not get taken out by the “family” (cue his references to Helter Skelter/Charles Manson). He seemed to be fitting in well. The Upolu all said they feel like a happy tribe now, but you know everyone can’t be that happy considering someone has to be voted off. Sitting around, Cochran shared tales with Hantz about how in fifth grade he started to become rambunctious. He would make prank calls to girls and…
Before last week's break from the competition, Oakton's John Cochran survived yet another Tribal Council, seemingly cozy in his alliance with the former Upolu tribemates. But last week saw the last of the former Savaii members head to Redemption Island. Assuming one of them returns back to the island tonight, will Cochran be able to maneuver his way into sticking around for yet another week? [SPOILER ALERT FROM THE GET-GO] Occasionally, Survivor is predictable and boring. This was one of those episodes. There were a few moments when Cochran, our hometown contestant, could have been in trouble, but none of them came to fruition. We saw Cochran bond with his new friends, the former Upolu, and with Coach particularly. He’s become Coach’s “grasshopper” — bonding over yoga on the beach. It was a funny sight. And Cochran admitted to drinking some of the Coach Kool-aid, but “slowly,” he said. So far, he’s still aware of his surroundings, but it also seems like he's enjoying the feeling …
John Cochran, of Oakton, seemed pretty cozy with his new allies on last week's episode of "Survivor: South Pacific." This week, one of the people — Keith, Ozzy or Jim — Cochran had a major hand in sending to Redemption Island will be returning. Will Cochran be able to avoid their wrath? Tonight Cochran faced his Savaii tribemates after his massive blindside switch to vote with the former Upolu members and permanently change allegiance. It was obvious from their reaction at tribal (and the previews for this week) that the Savaii tribe was not going to go easy on Cochran. And they let him have it. Whitney said he disgusted her. Jim said he was a poor excuse for a man. Ozzy had a deep conversation alone with him and called him a weiner. Cochran made a huge game move and it definitely made some BIG waves. [Spoiler Alert] Despite Cochran saying he only did it to make a big move, …
John Cochran, of Oakton, shook things up on "Survivor: South Pacific" when he turned against his former tribe, Savaii, to vote Keith off the island and put his fate and trust in Upolu's hands. Will Cochran be able to continue avoiding elimination? Chat with us during the episode, starting at 7:30 p.m. Just click the play button above to join!
Well, folks. It's official. We could not have been blessed with a better player to be from Oakton in this season of "Survivor: South Pacific." Love him or hate him, he's been the center of attention — he would probably say unwanted attention — of this season's biggest episodes. [SPOILER ALERT] The episode started off with Savaii coming back from the Tribal Council that saw Ozzy volunteer himself to Redemption Island to give Savaii the best shot at having a player from their tribe return for the merge. Cochran was on top of the world. The rest of the tribe? Not so much. I found it a little …
John Cochran, of Oakton, benefited from one of the craziest game moves in "Survivor" history after Ozzy Lusth offered himself up to Redemption Island in his place. Will Cochran be able to continue avoiding elimination? Chat with us during the episode, starting at 7:30 p.m. Just click the play button above to join!
Oakton resident John Cochran is involved in one of the craziest moves in Survivor history. And in the end, Ozzy puts himself on the line in an attempt to keep Savaii at even strength in the merge. My roommate has some words to live by in challenges: Don’t be the "caller." More on this and how it pertains to Cochran later. [SPOILER ALERT] The episode begins with Ozzy and Cochran from Savaii and Sophie and Albert from Upolu sitting in on the Redemption Island challenge between Mikayla and Christine. In previous Redemption Island challenges, it has been quite clear to Savaii and Upolu that …
John Cochran, of Oakton, sailed through last week's episode of "Survivor: South Pacific" after his tribe won the Immunity Challenge. Good thing, too, because it seemed unclear how votes would turn out if Savaii had to go through another Tribal Council a few days after effecting the first blindside of the season. Will Cochran be so lucky this week? Chat with us during the episode, starting at 7:30 p.m. Just click the play button above to join!
Oakton resident John Cochran was instrumental in pulling off the season’s first blindside in Week 5. Will his newfound alliance with tribemate Jim Rice pay off, or will Ozzy Lusth’s wrath come back to bite him? [SPOILER ALERT] It’s smooth sailing this week for Cochran at the Savaii camp, which has to be the most fun for him. Being a part of a big game move, being on the same side as most of your tribemates. Ozzy’s temper tantrums over not being told about the vote has the rest of the tribe pretty sure they did the right thing. And has them bonding together without Ozzy. I love this tribe — …
John Cochran, of Oakton, narrowly escaped elimination last week when a blindside move sent "Survivor" veteran Ozzy Lusth's closest ally, Elyse, to Redemption Island. So will this game-changing move from the Savaii tribe allow Cochran to move away from the chopping block for the first time this season? We'll find out in tonight's latest episode of "Survivor: South Pacific," airing at 8 p.m. today on CBS. Join us for a live chat during the episode to analyze every move the players make!
During last week's episode of "Survivor: South Pacific," Oakton resident John Cochran — who has been on the chopping block since day one — struck a deal with fellow tribemate Jim Rice to aim for Elyse Umemoto. They saw it as an opportunity to knock de facto leader and veteran Ozzy Lusth down a notch, as she is his closest ally in the game. Would it pay off this week? [SPOILER ALERT] The answer is a resounding YES! In the season's best episode yet, Cochran somehow pulled off a massive game-changing move to keep himself in the game and knock out Elyse, who seemed destined to coast through to …
Last week, Oakton's own John Cochran struck a deal with Savaii tribemate Jim to target Elyse, the closest ally of de facto tribe leader Ozzy. Will their plan work? Previews for this week's episode of "Survivor: South Pacific" once again portray Cochran as the mastermind behind a major takeover, but will it be that dramatic? Join Oakton Patch editor Nicole Trifone and "Cochran's Council" columnist Kristy O'Malley throughout tonight's episode in a live chat. Just click the play button above at 7:30 p.m. to join us!
