World Series Facts

The Tigers are down 3-0 in a first to four wins series, meaning they will have to win four games in a row: two at home, and two on the road. No team has ever done that in World Series history, so the Tigers will try to make history. 

Also, the last time an AL team was shut out two games in a row, as the Tigers were in Games 2 and 3, the team was trying to lose. During the infamous Black Sox Scandal in 1919, the Reds shut out Chicago twice in a row. However, no AL team back to back games since. This is interesting, because the Tigers possess two of the best bats in baseball, in Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder. Over the past two games, those two are a combined 1-12 (.083 AVG), with Cabrera's single being the pair's only hit. The Tigers as a team are just 7-58 (.121 AVG) over the last two games.  

For the first time in the Hank Aaron Award's 14-year history, the two winners (Cabrera and Buster Posey) face off in the World Series.

The Giants gained a 3-0 series lead over the Tigers, a lead no team has forfeited in World Series history.

The Tigers became the first AL team since the 1919 White Sox (during the Black Sox Scandal) to be shut out in back to back games.

Miguel Cabrera (44 HR, 139 RBI, .330 AVG) and Buster Posey (24 HR, 103 RBI, .336 AVG) won the Hank Aaron Awards for the best offensive contributor in each league.
