Vienna Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce 2011 Annual Awards

The Mason Inn Hotel and Conference Center played host to the VTRCC's prestigious 2011 annual awards ceremony.

The Vienna Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce welcomed their distinguished business community to the Mason Inn Conference Center and Hotel Wednesday night for their 2011 Annual Service Awards Dinner.

Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova was the master of ceremonies for the memorable evening. The awards have been the premier annual event for the VTRCC for more than 40 years, recognizing industry leaders whose efforts helped enhance the business environment of the region.

"Tonight really does demonstrate the mood in Fairfax County and in the Vienna Tysons area," Bulova said. "Good work and good deeds are contagious, and it's important that we recognize the good things that happen in our community because people hear those things and replicate them."

BOS members John Foust and Catherine Hudgins were also in attendance, as was the Town of Vienna mayor Jane Seeman.

After exchanging pleasantries over cocktails and appetizers, Bulova proceeded with announcing the winners in the following award categories; Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Entepreneur of the Year, New Member of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Nonprofit of the Year, Educator of the Year, Lifetime Service Award and the prestigious Chairman’s Award.

Cory Scott, senior property manager of Tysons Corner Center and chairman of the board of the VRTCC helped Bulova with hosting duties throughout the night.

In addition to receiving their plaques, award winners are also recognized at the annual Vienna Halloween Parade in the fall.

Carolyn Warrick, founder of Carolyn Does QuickBooks, received some of the loudest cheers of the night in accepting the 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year award for her firm’s outstanding bookkeeping services.

"I love being a member of this organization, this is the best chamber on the planet earth," said Warrick in her acceptance speech.

The crowd enjoyed the Metro DC DJs unique selection of music, a different song fittingly selected for each unique award and winner.

The Vienna Drug Center, owned and operated by the Borgatti family for more than 45 years took home the Lifetime Service Award, recognizing them as the leader in the pharmaceutical industry in Vienna.

David MacGillivray of ActionCoach received the most highly regarded honor of the night, the VTRCC Chairman's award.

"I’ve been in the chamber for five years and we’ve really come a long way," said MacGillivary, who founded and teaches the VTRCC Leadership Development Seminar Series. In his more than 40 years of business experience, MacGillivray founded a multimillion dollar import/export business and also was a partner with Ernst and Young, one of the world’s largest professional services firms.
