Sean Duffy. Waples Mill ES. Sean has devoted his life to making science interesting, exciting, fun and fulfilling to children of all ages. He gives much of his own time, outside of school for advancing the study of the environment including birds, water and habitats.

Inge Pisano from Oakton High School. She teaches multiple levels of french but speaks German as well. It only took her one school year to change my life as a student and citizen, because she has inspired me with her enthusiasm for us to learn, and to share her knowledge of the world and encourage us to open our minds to the world we live in. She takes students with her to Senegal as well, to encourage worldview and traveling abroad. Most amazing teacher ever!

Madame Pisano from Oakton High School! Like Alana said not only does she speak French but German as well! She made learning the french language fun and encouraged us all to expand and use our knowledge. I had her class 7th period and always looked forward to it! She never took class to seriously and we always had a great time! I cant wait to have her class again next year!

Madame Inge Pisano from Oakton High School. She try's very hard to sure that she has not only a student:teacher relationship in the classroom but also a friend outside the classroom. She is an amazing teacher who makes learning French fun even when it is difficult. We love her so much and she deserves this honor more than any teacher I know.

Madame Pisano from Oakton High School is one of the best teachers I have ever had! She teaches with so much passion, not only in the United States, but in Senegal, Africa as well. With her experiences from other counties, she brings knowledge that not only reviews the French language, but universal customs and values as well. I had her for 2 years when I was in high school and she is one reason why I continued studying the language for 5 years. She was the first teacher I ran to when it came time for my college teacher recommendations because I trust and respect that she will come through for me inside and outside of the classroom.

My children have had two of the three mentioned in the running. Mr. Duffy is a great science teacher, but he is so much more than that. He wins this one hands down.

It wont let me vote; however, Eileen Donahue taught all three of my kids and teaches kids to learn and love education. Does not teach for SOL scores yet she consistently has highest Sol scores in state of Virginia.. Eileen came to my home and ttutored my son for free when he was too ill to attend school. Eileen did this 3 years after he was her student. Six years later she continues to support my children by attending their theatre productions and sporting events.. Eileen recognized one of my children was dyslexic, taught another child Algebra in 6th grade as she felt he wasn't challenged. She teaches each child tomtheir best potential. Teaching is her calling and vocation. All kids who have had Mrs Donahue continue to say they learned the most from her than any other teacher including high school. Sincerely, Liz Pedersen

I vote for Sean Duffy-He has spent years creating science and environmental stewardship educational opportunities not only for his own students and school, but for use by the entire Fairfax County school system. His many programs were created with the goal of making WMES a flagship "outdoor classroom"-- a go-to program to enrich the educational lives of every single student and teacher in FCPS. My kids don't go to WMES, but I appreciate that they still benefit from his passion for and dedication to his work. Thanks Mr. Duffy!

P.S. It was hard to not vote Ms Pisano as she played a duet with my daughter which allowed my daughter to have a Senior recital after another student backed out of playing. That is above and beyond teaching: but Sean Duffy is the bomb.

I have had the pleasure and opportunity to work alongside Sean Duffy on a number of projects in several capacities and found him to be inspiring and knowledgeable in all areas of academics. Whenever he speaks the students pay attention to every word with enthusiasm. His passion for teaching is obvious, he truly wants to reach the students. He also takes time well beyond his direct responsibilities to expose students to environmental science and teach them about the personal responsibility of individuals to protect nature and perhaps become the amazing humanitarian that he is. Our school is lucky to have him.

As a volunteer coordinator for space sciences in the school, I have had the honor of associating with Sean Duffy for several years. His passion is not only for his own students, but for teaching science wherever he is given the opportunity. No one is more deserving of recognition for dedication to the cause of inspiring students to learn all subjects!
