Oakton High School Cougars Marching Band achieved a "superior" performance in all grading areas to win their class at the Virginia State Marching Band Competition on Oct. 30.

Millbrook High School in Winchester served as one of four sites in the state competition. If a band earns superior ratings at both the state marching festival and the concert festival in the spring, it earns the distinction as a Virginia Honors Band. Oakton High School has earned this title 17 times.
