McAuliffe Announces Bid for Governor
Former DNC chairman announces his intentions to supporters in an email Thursday, Politico reports
Just days after the presidential campaign season ended, another campaign is about to gear up.
McLean resident Terry McAuliffe announced Thursday he intends to run for governor of Virginia in 2013, when Gov. Bob McDonnell's term ends, Politico reports.
McAuliffe, the former DNC chairman and co-chair of Bill Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign, wrote in an email to supporters on Thursday:
"I realize that after any election some people's immediate question is about the next campaign. I want to be straightforward with you: I plan on running for Governor of Virginia in 2013.
Over the past four years, I’ve traveled to every corner of Virginia for over 2,400 meetings and events. It is absolutely clear to me that Virginians want their next Governor to focus on job creation and common sense fiscal responsibility instead of divisive partisan issues. If we want Virginia to be the best place for business, we need leaders who prioritize economic growth and move beyond the political issues that are designed to divide us."
A full copy of the email is published on Politico.

Terry McAuliffe took the time since his last effort to run for Governor to listen to the citizens of Virginia who in 2012 clearly represent diverse cultures and, have varied needs due to their location within the state. I will support his candidacy for he is as good as it gets re his business acumen, his deep knowledge of how the state can effectively work with the Federal Government and his clear sensitivity for the entire Virginia population from NOVA to the Southernmost counties. Virginia would enjoy a leadership that would not be divisive, particularly when addressing gender issues, which in the last year alone, has left Virginia's image skewed throughout the US. He would keep Virginia on track for opportunity even when times are tough. He is person you could say "Can Do" is part of his DNA. Go Terry!
