Delegate Seeks to Adorn Office with Local Artwork

Del. Mark Keam wants to make sure the 35th District is at the forefront of his mind while he serves in Richmond for the 2012 General Assembly session.

For a subtle reminder of who and what he's representing, Keam will host his second annual contest for constituents of high school age or older to have their artwork displayed in his Richmond office. Up to eight pieces will be selected.

"As I work in Richmond from January through March, one of the best ways for me to remember our district is to enjoy art pieces depicting local scenes of Vienna and Fairfax County on my walls," said Keam (D-35th District), . "Last year, I was surrounded by seven beautiful paintings and photographs, and I look forward to decorating my office with new artwork designed by constituents."

The 35th District includes parts of Oakton, Vienna, Dunn Loring, Tysons Corner and McLean.

The contest deadline is Dec. 14. Submissions of photography, painting/drawing, digital arts or other measuring less than 24 inches wide by 34 inches tall must be turned into Keam's office by Dec. 14. Artists may also submit pieces through email at info@markkeam.com.

Members of a selection committee — Town of Vienna Mayor Jane Seeman, Town of Vienna Councilwoman Carey Sienicki, former President of the Vienna Art Society Donna Grone, founder of the Gimga Group Mihae Kim, and James Madison High School senior Catherine Bobalek — will choose the winners, who will be revealed at a reception Dec. 19 at Patrick Henry Library.
